Biography
Dr. Amber Tucker is currently an assistant professor and chair of the sociology department at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI. She received her bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Broadly, her teaching and scholarship critically examine the role and impact of race, gender, and class and its impact on individuals and communities. Specifically, Dr. Tucker's research engages the concept of intersectionality through lenses of power and oppression and also the ways in which it shapes experience, identity, and social context on micro and macro levels of society. Amber is currently working on a funded participatory action collaborative research project exploring the intersections between trauma, identity, and embodiment. Dr. Tucker also works extensively in the Milwaukee community with various organizations and businesses to provide facilitation and training on issues related to inclusion, social justice, and equity.
